A Visit From the Bishop
On the weekend of February 11 and 12, we have the honor and privilege of hosting Bishop Roy Riley as our preacher at all four worship services. Our congregation tries to be sure that either the Bishop or someone from the Bishop’s office is here each year to keep us informed and in touch with what is going on in the larger New Jersey Synod, the ELCA and the worldwide church.
Bishop Riley had served on the staff of Bishop Herluf Jensen, serving as a stewardship consultant. Upon Bishop Jensen’s retirement in 1991, Bishop Riley was elected bishop of our Synod. He has a passion for the poor and the underprivileged and is constantly encouraging pastors and congregations to listen to those to whom few others will listen and offer them a voice in the Church.
He has served as the chair of the Council of Bishops in the ELCA and is well known throughout the State as an advocate for ecumenism and social justice issues.
Please plan on joining us for worship that weekend as we welcome our Bishop to our congregation once again.
Bakers: Valentine Cookies Needed!
If anyone is interested in baking cookies to provide a Valentine's Day treat for our seniors and special population, we sure could use your help. The cookies will be delivered on the weekend of February 11th and 12th and would need to be in the kitchen by Friday, February 10th, or if need be no later than 9:00 A.M. Saturday February 11th when we will be packing them. Please mark your containers "social ministry" so that we can identify them. As always, we are in need of some sugar free cookies as well. Thank you in advance for helping to brighten up the mid-winter for those who don't get out as easily as they once did.
Any questions? Call the church office (609) 267-0740.
Next Milestone Ministry Celebration Announced
“Together As One”
February 11th and 12th, 2012
If you are celebrating a five-year anniversary in 2012 (i.e. 5th, 10th, 15th, 20th...anniversary) or were married in 2011, the Youth and Family Ministry Team of St. Paul’s invites you to a recognition and blessing of those anniversaries during worship on February 11th and 12th, 2012. You both will be asked to come forward with other couples present during worship to participate in a portion of the service designed just for you which will include a short renewal of vows. You will be given a candle to commemorate the day which you can also light on your anniversaries in the years ahead.
We hope you can participate. Please let us know if you will or will not be present that weekend for one of the four services. Also, we would like you to bring in a wedding picture so we can scan it and return it to you and make it part of a display of memories on that weekend in the narthex. Or if you would like to scan it yourself and send it to us digitally, that would be great. E-mail it to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
If you cannot be present but would still like to receive the blessing information and receive the candle, please let us know that also. We will be glad to hold them and give them to you at your earliest convenience. It is important that we include all of you who would like to be included, so bring or send in a picture to be part of the display even if you cannot be present. And, if there is an error in our records and you are not celebrating a five-year anniversary (meaning you were married in a year ending in 2 or 7), please give us a call so our records can be corrected.
If you have questions, as well as to let us know if you will or will not be able to be present that weekend and if so, which service, please contact the church office at 609.267.0740 or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
