Calling All New Drivers
Calling all New Drivers or About-to-Be New Drivers!
Rings of Freedom, Rings of Responsibilities
March 15/16—ALL SERVICES. You are invited to participate in this special St. Paul’s Milestone if you are a high school student who has received your driver’s license after March 1, 2013 or before September 1, 2014 and have not already received your key ring recognizing your achievement. Key rings will be given out during worship to all participants to use or to keep in a place to remind them of the Christian emphasis of this milestone in their faith life. Preparations are under way so please inform us if you are eligible and would like to participate in this special event or cannot be present but would like to receive a key ring and we can arrange to give it to you individually. We will also provide you with the service of blessing to use privately.
Sunday School - "Lucky" to Receive God's Grace!
Our Sunday School friends who attend Sunday School will tell you how lucky we are to be Children of God. We learn about God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit! Each week, the children learn about God’s awesome grace through song, stories, and activities that focus on what it means to be a Child of God. In case you missed it, we are a Jesus and child centered Sunday School!
In the month of February, we learned about the Beatitudes. We also learned about how Jesus wants our light to shine in our salt and light lesson from Matthew. Two very important lessons came in Jesus wanting his disciples to forgive others and show kindness and love toward the “meanies”. Every one of us can relate to how hard that can be. Sound familiar? Many of these were readings in worship. We’ll begin March with learning about the Transfiguration. Oh! You will too… just during your worship service. Simply put, we are lucky for Sunday School. It is an opportunity for our kids to be themselves and learn how to respect others.
I am grateful to our parents for bringing their children to Sunday School. Children are attending Sunday School more consistently and more often. Check out these weekly numbers:
The number of 40 – 50 children attending SS is +14.7% over last year.
The number of 30 – 40 children attending SS is +35.7% over last year.
The number of 20 – 30 children attending SS is -71.4% over last year.
We have an average increase of 5 children each Sunday. This is not your grandmother’s Sunday School. We yell “Yeah God!” We say, “Jesus wants us to love the meanies,” even though it’s a tough thing to do. Jesus is alive in us! He is a tangible, living, breathing friend.
We are lucky to be a Jesus and child centered Sunday School.
We are lucky to be Team Sunday School!
We are lucky to be Children of God, no matter how old we get.
Bev Grazioli, Sunday School Director
